The Japanese brand’s electric SUV promises to offer a driving range of about 200 km.
Mazda started manufacturing the brand’s first fully electric vehicle, the MX-30, at the Ujina plant in Hiroshima, Japan. Powered by an electric drive technology called E-Skyactiv, it combines a 145 horsepower AC synchronous electric motor with a 35.5kWh lithium-ion battery, helping the SUV achieve a driving range of about 200 km.
The battery of the MX-30 can be charged up to 80 percent of its capacity in about 40 minutes using DC fast charging.
Mazda says the MX-30’s Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture completes the fluidity of all-electric powertrains, providing a quiet and flawless driving experience. Based on the brand’s Kodo design philosophy, the style of the MX-30 is pure and simple, consisting of free-style doors without a center pillar and a framed glass that gives the cabin an open, fresh air.
The cabin features a range of new, environmentally friendly materials such as a driver-centered cockpit, movable center console, seven-inch touch screen air conditioning panel, and cork and door upholstery fabric containing fibers from recycled plastic bottles.
The standard interior features a windshield-protruding screen, 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat, a color 7-inch TFT screen, leather-covered steering wheel and chrome-plated fittings.
